A rising MotoGP talent makes a statement by triumphing with Ducati during Australia’s off-season races
Two-time Moto2 race winner Senna Agius returned to his homeland this weekend to compete in Australia, and he dominated, claiming two wins aboard a Ducati Panigale V4 R.
Agius competed in the St. George Motorcycle Club’s Summer Night Series at Sydney Motorsport Park, the venue formerly known as Eastern Creek and famously home to the Australian MotoGP from 1991 to 1996.
Riding the Panigale V4 R, the Australian ace swept two victories across three races, with only the opening race slipping from the podium as he finished fourth. His consistency earned him the round victory by a nine-point margin over Jonathan Nahlous, who managed podium finishes in all three races.
In a neat aside, the opening round of the 2025 Summer Night Series also featured British Superbike (BSB) riders, including Josh Brookes, who returned to the series after last year. Brookes won Race 1 but saw his points hurt by a non-finish in Race 3.
The event also hosted the newly formed 2026 BSB squad Superbike Advocates, represented by Glenn Allerton and Josh Newman.
For Agius, these Sydney races offer solid winter preparation ahead of a 2026 Moto2 season with IntactGP, the team he has ridden for since beginning his World Championship career in 2024. The upcoming year is expected to bring heightened expectations for Agius, who already claimed two wins in 2025—his first grand prix victory at Silverstone and a home-round win in Australia late in the season.
